Forklift Operator Safety Training Certification

Course Overview: This training program is designed and is in accordance with

Government of Manitoba safety regulations for safe operation of counterbalance

forklifts. The course is broken into two parts that consists of one half day in class and

the second half being the practical evaluation of each student in the seat of the forklift.

Course Objectives: The objective of this training is help beginner and seasoned

operators know and understand the dangers and the safe operation procedure of

powered lift trucks.

The classroom portion is presented in six modules, which include:

The practical evaluation portion consists of a run through of the pre-operation safety

check, as well each student will demonstrate the safe operation of a lift truck. Every

student will be constructively critiqued by the instructor and their classmates on the

safe handling of the forklift not their speed or general operation abilities.

Evaluation Process: Upon successful completion of the 40 question written exam and

the practical skills evaluation, the student will be issued a certificate which is valid for 3

years.

Course Duration: This training is 7 hours in duration that consists of approximately 4

hours in the classroom and 3 hours on the “shop floor”.

Notes: As per CSA and Manitoba Code of Practice for the Safe Operation for Lift Trucks,

operators are required to be evaluated on the truck they will operate, in the workplace

they will operate. The practical evaluation must be performed at the student’s place of

employment with their lift truck. Maximum class size is 8 students. All printed

material and books are supplied.
